This shop part of my blog came about from a business I started when my son was in nappies.  I just couldn’t seem to find really useful, innovative baby & toddler gear here in Malta.  There was a lot of run-of-the-mill stuff and seas of bright plastic.  

As he grew, the concept of thinkingliving shop grew!  But he’s now got beyond the early years, and we’ve both moved on.  

So this is a clearance sale is  to help me free up some house space and for you to get some quality gear and bargains in the deal!  Scroll on down to view the items.  Apologies, but they come in no particular order!

Shoo Shoo Baby Shoes

Shoo Shoos are the healthy solution for  pre- and early walker feet.  Made of  supple, natural nappa leather with suede  grip sole, they allow little feet to breathe  and find their step.  What’s more, they  actually say on!  Soft elastic at the ankles.  No way they shake off in the buggy – my son tested them!  We’ve various sizes: 0-6, 6-12, 12-18 months and a few extra large 18-24 months in boy and girl styles.  Loads of pink, fuschia and lilac colours with details like hearts, bows, spots and daisies! grobag®, the company that gave us the definitive baby sleeping bag, has come up with a revolutionary way to check your baby or toddler’s room temperature.  It was the first colour-changing digital room thermometer on the market and glows blue (too cold), yellow (just right) or orange (too hot) and has a clear LCD display.  Just peep in your child’s room without putting lights on to check they’re in a recommended, safer sleeping temperature –  between 16-20 degrees C.  I found it invaluable in Malta’s extremes of temperature when my son was small!

grobag® Baby Sleeping Bags hardly need any introduction.   Suffice to say that they are the premier baby and toddler sleepings bag range and the company itself is very particular about promoting a safer sleeping environment for babies.   I swore by these as a sleep system for my son who was in them from 2 months to 4 years.  He’s always been a sound sleeper and they were a god-send on holidays and staying with relatives as I didn’t have to worry about bedding at the other end!  I have some winter weight, 2.5 togs in girly and unisex colours, neutral colour mid-season 1.0 tog and lots of crisp cotton poplin summer weight 0.5 togs available.  Prices vary according to tog.  Contact me so I can advise what’s in stock.

Frog Pod by Boon Inc.

If you go mad trying to retrieve soggy bath toys from the foam each night, this is for you. The Frog Pod scoops, drains and stores all those irritating seas of plastic and sponges.  It attaches to bath tiles with suctions or screws. Say goodbye to mould and mildew! OK, so you need to have a funky colour scheme or dare to stick it in a designer bathroom.  But let’s face it, they’re only young once and later you’ll regret not having that wind down bathtime of day with them!  Two left in stock.

Flo – bath faucett safety cover 

I like to think that I’d have got around to inventing this myself!  I was so concerned about my son hitting or scalding his head on the bath taps.  But the Flo, made by Boon Inc, got there first!  I could never have made it so stylish or simple though. It also doubles up as a shampoo or bathfoam dispenser. Easy to fit on most taps.  Lime and white colourway only.

Premaxx Baby Bag Sling

We’ve all tried slings that don’t work, are uncomfortable or are only of use for a week or two after the birth.  But Premaxx’s baby bag is ideal for newborn to 18 months and is ergonomic and really easy to put on (the real plus!).  The Baby-Bag sling is a carrying system that can be used directly from birth as the baby is carried in the foetal position. Flensted Handmade Mobiles

Where better to source a beautiful, precision mobile for a kid’s room than from the Danish isle that was home to Hans Christian Andersen.  Flensted is a family-run firm that hand makes mobiles.  The mobiles are feather light and need only imperceptible air currents to set them in motion. Balloons, cats, dogs, yachts, hens, swans, circus clowns and more available.

Koeka Terry Towelling Bibs

Koeka was set up around 10 years ago by two, with-it Dutch mums who wanted quality, funky-coloured accessories for their own kids.  The result is wonderful range of terry items like bibs, burp cloths, comforter cloths and a whole lot more.  The colour palette ranges from lime and fuschia to more muted baby blues and pinks.  I prefer the more acid colours and love the orange!  This photo features one style of bib I stock.  They are ample in size and colours don’t run when you chuck them in the wash!

Koeka Terry Bathrobes

Another Koeka staple, the Terry towelling bathrobe.  Actually, with such funky colours, my son used it as a summer beach robe as well.   They are hooded, which is great to cover up kids in a chill bathroom or against a sea breeze.  The hoods feature little pointy bits that make kids look like imps all snuggled up.  Again, true to Koeka’s contemporary, funky approach, they come in a wide range of colours.  I stock most, and in sizes suited to kids up to around 5-6 years.   Contact me to ask about colours and sizes.

Koeka Bandanas

These are really fun for kids who want to be cool (and yes, they do give some sun protection too as they have a longer bit that droops down the the back of the neck!).  They make life easy for mums as well as they are ready-designed to tie as bandanas – no fiddling around with ‘kerchief squares and knots.  The ties are long enough to do bows with.  Koeka colours, as usual – and some in khaki and dark blue for the boys!  I had one customer buy 10 to give out in (or as) the party bag at her 8-yr-old’s birthday.  A good idea I’d never have thought of.

Koeka Lounge & Nightwear

Koeka call this nightwear, but I’ve always sold more of this cotton jersey range as kids’ loungewear, for want of a better word!  This photo shows the sleeveless tunic with fluted edge trousers.  I’ve also sleeved wrap tops with 3/4 sleeves with fluted edge.  I don’t have a girl, but wish I did when I see this range.  It’s so pretty, versatile and really appeals  - in fact, it’s the kind of thing I’d wear lounging around the house!  Wish they’d had this stuff in the ’70s when I was eight.  I had to wear flannel PJs or wapping great cotton nighties! Nothing this trendy! Mix and match as tops and bottoms sold separately for most items.

Koeka Comforter Cloths 

Hope you’re not too bored with me talking about Koeka by now, but bear with me!  This is an ingenious little Terry cloth, almost starfish shaped, with a small woven tag to attach dummy to.  It’s a must-have if your baby or toddler likes to suck a rag.  This at least will be brigher in colour (won’t go that awful grey) and will at least keep your street cred up if you have to be out and about with the comforter cloth in tow!  A huge colour range in stock.  Just ask!

Koeka Wash Mitts 

Enough colours for each kid to have its own, without the muddling up!  One for each day of the week too, if you’ve a child like mine who leaves the mitt all soggy on the soap and unusable for the next day!

Koeka Terry Wrap Towels

Another practical yet funky bathroom addition – the Koeka baby wrap towel.  They come in two sizes and have a hoody bit and two nice side flaps to create a snug package of your wet baby!  The reverse also features a pocket, so when it’s hanging up, you can stuff other flotsam and jetsam from the bathroom in it.  Again, a huge colour range, not just two colours here.  Great new born presents, and large size good for toddlers too.  Later on, use as hand towels in kids’ bathroom.

Baby-Be-Safe™ Cot sheet

A US mum invented this cot sheet a few years back as a safe bottom sheet to complement the baby sleeping bag’s answer to top sheet safety.  The patented Baby-Be-Safe™ Cot sheet is made with 14 inch end pockets that secure using high-quality thick elastic and a soft Velcro® closure.  It’s easy to put, but cannot be removed without an adult lifting the mattress on its side and opening the pockets.  The sheet is made from the highest quality 100% woven cotton and fits UK and continental mattresses (56-60cm wide by 118-120cm long).

Hippychick Mattress Protector

This is a must-have and invaluable on mattresses for kids of, well, almost any age!  It’s in brushed cotton that ‘glues’ nicely to the mattress.  No rustling or rutching up.  The micro-thin, yet impermeable waterproof layer is sandwiched between two brushed cotton layers, which means you can ‘boil’ wash the protector, no fear of it perishing.  More hygienic therefore.   I stock the cot-cot-bed size ( 75 x 100 cm) which is fine on single beds too.  I kept this smaller size for my son, now age 6, as, let’s face it, the important bit is still covered!  Heads and feet don’t usually have too many mishaps! Pillow protectors anyone?

Silly Billyz Bibs

Great for messy eaters and as they’re made of cotton velour ‘fleece’ (centre front) and nylon (soft, not crunchy), mum will be pleased as they wash and dry super fast!  I’ve not many left, but nice colours (pinks, blues, reds, purples etc) and some regular sleeveless bibs too.

TenderMe Wrap Blanket by Premaxx

Well, I had to have a Dad photo!  This soft cotton blanket is a perfect newborn gift and practical too.  It wraps (almost swaddles in a way) baby comfortably and snuggly so you can hold baby easily to feed and carry. Premaxx is an innovative Dtuch company (so many good kiddycare items seem to stem from the Netherlands!).  It bills this blanket as a safe way for inexperienced hands to hold the new baby.  It is also slightly padded which gives baby some cushioning when lying down for a while, and helps to protect baby in handling.  I have bright light blue and lime colourways.
